“There are so many unforgettable memories in Thailand. Actually I kept a
diary and I wrote down those interesting experiences in school every day. As I mentioned in Question 2, I still felt
warm and touched when I saw the squirrel doll my students sent me only because I said it was cute. I also remember
that every time when I finished class, students rushed to help me carry the exercise books and teaching materials
back to the office. I remember students sang Thailand songs to me after class though they seemed very shy and
introverted. I remember they came to the platform and tried to teach me Thai. I remember they sent me handmade gifts
with tender and care. I also remember the Mother’s Day students kneeled down in front of me and cried heavily. They
gave me white flowers and hugged me tightly. I love every kid and every teacher in the school. My gratitude to them
is beyond words. I remember Teacher Jaew bought us a kind of fish and sent to our house at weekends. I remember the
director drove us to the market and tried to communicate with us in English. I remember the splendid night when we
celebrated Teacher Ping’s son’s birthday. I remember Teacher Ana bought Thai flutes from Bangkok for us. I remember
the activities we participated with Teacher Nut and Teacher Jeeda. There are many other beautiful experiences in our
school. These are all my precious memories to treasure for the lifetime and I would say thank you to all of
them.”

cupcake for the exhibition.So we join them and learn how to make a banana cupcake.The second day we go to

“This volunteer experience taught me to be a person who knew to be grateful. I would love to share a story here. One day, when I went to the school canteen, I found every student who came out of the canteen was eating an ice-cream. They had a bag of chips in their hands as well. According to teacher Jaew, I knew that both the ice-creams and the snacks were donated by one of their former students. The school helped him in the past, and he did this as a way to repay the kindness of the school. Although I did not know his name, I was very impressed by him. I have learned to be grateful, not only to express gratitude, but also to repay.”

“Spread love through jogging” Since I was in a totally new
place, I started jogging to get familiar with the local people and the surroundings. Every single person I
met on the way greeted me with a nice smile and I used to reply “Sawadee krub”. While jogging, I found out
which kid of my school lives in which house and which kid is related to which kid (siblings). It was an
interesting exploration. Sooner, the kids started asking me if they can join jogging with me and we had a
team, a new member almost every other day. Coming from Japan, February of Thailand was a summer for me. But
it was winter for them, so I found people warming themselves in fire. I saw monks visiting each house and
people were happily donating foods to them. One family gifted me a big jackfruit and another family served
me breakfast when I visited their house to greet our kid from school. It was a heartwarming experience.
Building this kind of relationship showed positive impacts in classroom as well because kids with whom I
jogged together were focusing and following my instructions in the classroom. One more thing, two dogs from
my school (Yon and Yue) accompanied me everyday in my jogging. Mother dog Yon used to fight back with all
the other dogs (there were planety) who barked at us and kept us safe. Motherly love! Jogging was never for
physical exercise for me (it barely burned my fat lol), it was about building an unprecedented relationship
and spreading smiles and love with these kind-hearted people of Sa Kaeo.”
